Disclosure

Full disclosure...I am a Steeped Tea Independent Consultant.  I wasn't one when I stated the Steeper's SocieTEA.  I was compelled to join after trying some of their awesome teas.  I love to drink tea...why not get paid to share it with others?

I'm no stranger to direct sales.  I've been with a few companies over the years.  One was a candle company that was over-saturated in my area at the time.  I couldn't get customers because they already had a consultant they were buying from and I couldn't get vendor events because they all had waiting lists for reps from my company several people deep, which means it would have taken me years to get into an event, if at all.

I tried some other companies.  A couple just didn't get their footing and went out of business.  Others, I just wasn't in love with the products.  I feel that in order to succeed in direct sales, you HAVE to LOVE your product.  You have to use it, love using it, and love talking about using it.  Tea is something that I love like that.

Another key to succeeding in direct sales is to have a consumable product, so that customers keep coming back to you, and they have opportunities to share your product with their friends.  Think about some of the most popular direct sales companies that you know of...Avon, Mary Kay, Scentsy, etc. Most of them sell a consumable product...something that gets "used up" like scented candles or makeup.  You run out, and you want more.  Tea is definitely consumable.  You eventually run out (I hope I NEVER run out of tea!) and you buy more.

So, beings that I've been sort of on the lookout for a direct sales company to join, I jumped on the chance to join Steeped Tea.  They are very successful in Canada and are starting to pick up steam in the US.  Even if I don't succeed, I at least got a bunch of teas and a teapot and a couple of pitchers and a few other accessories and food products to try at a deep discount.

The point of this post is not to try to recruit my readers.  I will provide a link at the end of the post if you are interested, but I encourage anyone that is researching a direct sales company or any business opportunity to do their research before joining.  Make sure it will be a good fit for you and your lifestyle.  Maybe you don't know anyone else that drinks tea or anyone willing to try tea, but you know plenty of people that love makeup.  Great!  Then maybe you want to choose a company like Mary Kay or Younique instead.  If you have no interest in joining a direct sales company, that's great too.  Maybe even, you find that one of the other DS tea companies is more your speed.  That's great too!  Pick the one with the product line and compensation plan that you like best.  I actually am looking forward to trying some teas from Tealightful and Zendigo, two of the other direct sales tea companies out there.

My overall point here is to provide full disclosure.  Yes, the links to Steeped Tea products are to my own website, and yes, I get a commission on the products purchased via my site.  If you do not want to purchase those items from me, you can purchase them from the Steeped Tea consultant of your choice.  I also am disclosing that my ratings of Steeped Tea products are just as fair and honest as the other teas I rate.  There are teas I like from them, and teas I just don't like.  I will share my thoughts and my recommendations.  Tea is one of those great things where there are so many kinds, from all over the world.  I love trying all kinds of brands, styles, and flavors.  That is not going to change.  I just wanted to disclose that I do receive compensation if you order from my Steeped Tea site, however, I do not receive compensation from Steeped Tea or any other company for my ratings.

There are also affiliate links to other tea companies in the sidebar.  These also provide me with (a bit of) revenue, and also often link to discounts for the person clicking them.  Again, you can read this blog without clicking any ads and without buying anything from me, and that is just fine...I am here to inform and share my love of tea, first and foremost!
